For this reason, in this study, it was aimed to create a “environmental sustainability guide” for local governments, in order to inform local governments to be more effective in environmental sustainability issues, to raise awareness on these issues, to encourage the public to take necessary measures, to encourage them and to ensure participation. Thus, it is aimed that local governments have the chance to produce similar projects by seeing the projects implemented in other countries or cities when they want to produce a project on these issues, or they can easily have the opportunity to develop new project ideas.

This study included a research on the various methods used in designing new structures in archaeological sites. Data was gathered by going through the existing sources. The literature was reviewed first but sufficient data was not available to group and classify the methods. Consequently, examples from Turkey and the world were studied with the aim of contributing to the conceptual framework the absence of which was acutely felt in the literature. The findings revealed three main approaches to the new structure designs implemented in archaeological sites which were classified as construction on the archaeological site, underground construction on the archaeological site, and protective roof systems. A detailed reading was conducted on six examples – two from each of the three approaches. The data thus obtained were analyzed in the light of the numerous scientific essays on the subject and conservation guidelines before being reflected on the conclusion.
There is at the present time much apparent misunderstanding of the terms Landscape Architecture and Landscape Gardening. It is not unusual to hear it stated that “this calling a man a landscape architect instead of a landscape gardener’’ is merely a fad “filling one’s mind with images of quarries, stone cutters, creaking derricks, tapping trowels, and the like, instead of with pictures of free hand dealings with sunshine and shadow, trees, flowering shrubs and leaping fountains.”
The architect, engineer, and operative builder's constructive manual; or, A practical and scientific treatise on the construction of artificial foundations for buildings, railways, &c.
The author of the following treatise is happy to avail himself of the present opportunity of tendering his respectful acknowledgments to the members of the Architectural and Engineering professions, and to the public generally, for the very flattering manner in which the first part of the “ Manual ” has been received. The very rapid sale of the work, and the still increasing demand for it, have more than realised the anticipations of the author

The “Influence of Material on Architecture” being the subject given by the Council of the Royal Institute of British Architects for the Essay Medal for 1896, the following Essay was submitted and obtained the Medal. It was then printed in the “Builder,” and at the request of many friends is now published in book form along with the Illustrations. It must be remembered that it is an Essay, necessarily short by the rules of the Council, and was kept strictly within well-defined limits of space, so that many interesting by-paths have not been entered. It is, however, a subject of considerable importance and great fascination for Architects, and should appeal to an even wider circle. A limited edition has, therefore, been printed, and it is hoped will prove of interest to those who may be led to read it.
A complete history of the use of clay as a constructive or decorative material in architecture, would be analogous to that of civilization itself with its advances and declines, for the authentic records of this branch of pottery are older than those of any other ceramic production, extending through forty-one centuries. The art of pottery is the most ancient and universal of all, including as it does, in its widest sense, all objects made of clay moulded into form while in a moist, plastic state, and then hardened by fire.

This study is important in terms of searching adaptation process of churches to mosque, examining of spatial differences between old and new function and also user perceptions related to these kind of reusing activities as well. Within the scope of the study, on-site investigations, library and archive searching, old photographs, restoration and drawings of the building were used. Study is supported by a questionnaire for understanding of user perception.

In presenting the following work to those who are interested in Church Architecture, the author is sensible that he is liable, amongst professional architects especially, to the charge of presumption, for meddling with a science which he cannot be supposed to understand. Perhaps the best mode of defending himself against this accusation, and of making a true apology for the book itself, will be to state the simple facts which gave rise to the undertaking.

It would be most unnatural and ungrateful in me, when putting forth a Treatise relating to the Revival of Christian Architecture in England, were I not to dedicated the same in an especial manner to pour Lordship, who has been the main support in the furtherance of that good work, and to whom I am so greatly bounden.
John Pickering Putnam
Nationalism may be defined as the substitution of universal coöperation and education for industrial and social welfare. It is a continuation of the evolutionary force which has raised man from the lower to the highest form of terrestrial beings. It is so strictly logical and practical in all its aspects; so impartical in its benefits to all classes; has already crept so deeply into the minds and hearts of thinking people in both continents, and has made such remarkable progress of late, in this country, especially on the Pacific coast, in arousing the people to definite action with a view to hastening its practical introduction, that we are forced to believe the present generation will see a great change in the social organism due to its influence.
